The most impactful thing I felt from being incarcerated was the feeling of being alone. Isolation takes on an entirely different meaning when you become isolated in a cell, locked away, and all of your legal rights removed.
When I finally began to accept my solitude, I learned how unhappy I was with myself. While I was alone, I realized that I was living vicariously through my family members, with no pride in myself. Now, my family had all cut me off. I could not escape my problems, so I finally addressed them as I could, one at a time when necessary. I made peace with myself and that was the beginning of becoming exactly who I am supposed to be.
You must know in your heart that you have peace with yourself. Eventually, we will all find ourselves in position of solitude. We will be reminded that no one is coming to do the work for us.
Have a great day!
