My friend and I were discussing the areas we are working to improve in our lives, and my friend said something that stuck with me. He said that he had become much more focused on the obvious outcome of his daily schedule and habits, and less concerned about people’s perception of his methods.
When I started working as a salary employee, my time was no longer managed. When I became upper management, my tasks and my time were no longer managed. When I became a business owner, I became the only one present to hold myself accountable. The truth is, we are always the only person who can hold ourselves accountable.
How you do things is up to you. How people perceive and judge what you do, is not your business. Your responsibility is to you, your customer, your people…not critics. Develop your own system and style, but do well at whatever you do.
Don’t worry about other people’s perception of you. Stay focused on what your actions produce.
Have a great week!
