I watched a video of a school teacher doing a visual representation life’s challenges, using a plastic cup and some rocks.
First, the instructor separated the rocks based on size, small and large. Next, he placed all of the small rocks in the cup. Then, he started placing the large rocks on top of the small ones. Before all of the large rocks could fit inside of the cup, the instructor ran out of space. The small rocks had taken all of what was available. The instructor emptied the cup and began again. This time, the instructor placed the large rocks inside of the cup, first. After the large rocks had been placed in the cup, the instructor poured the small rocks into the cup. Everything fit.
If we focus on little inconveniences and small things we disapprove of in our lives, we will miss the bigger picture. If we focus on the big things and give our time and attention to what matters most, the little things will fall into place and the small problems won’t be such an issue.
Have a great week,
Neal
