Over the last several months, I have been questioning myself and my abilities; I was wondering how long I was going to continue lacking in productivity. My friend, Dean, once told me how his relationship with God is seasonal – not his faith, but his communication. This weekend, my pastor spoke about the seasonal nature of God. He (our pastor) reminded us that we cannot always be in a season of growth or productivity. We must be pruned back.
The pruning season needs to happen, and it will take place in all of our lives if we are seeking God’s will. There are changes that need to happen in our lives before we can grow any further. Significant life events are often required for some of us to get honest with ourselves and make a change.
We will bear new fruit. One of my favorite things about God is how faithful He is. He rewards our spirit when we pursue Him, and He honors a disciplined man. In the low and slow seasons, I have to remember to take rest in God’s promises of healing and hope for the future.
The more I cooperate with the changing of each season, the better the harvest and the more peace I have in my life. Stay diligent, hopeful, and vigilant!
Have a great week,
Neal
