WHY SHOULD I HELP PEOPLE?

I learned a few things from my sponsor that changed my life immediately and continue to help me today.

When my sponsor asked me to start helping other people, I argued that I would harm someone. He reminded me that no one can harm me, more than ME. Aside from the obvious assault or homicide, I don’t have that power unless someone gives it to me . Our creator has that power and we have that power, but no one else.

I also learned that helping people is almost always the best use of my time. We need to take care of ourselves, but the best medicine for pain in heart comes from helping other people. Community brings our challenges to a more realistic scale, as opposed to when we minimize or awfulize certain situations in our brain. We are here for each other and we find healing in community.

It is always a good decision to help others. I live a more fruitful life when I focus on how my behavior will impact the lives of others.

Have a great week,

Neal
